There are three normal user-facing states
| State | Meaning | What it does not mean |
|---|---|---|
| WATCHING | No strict BULL/BEAR setup is currently latched as active. | It is not an exit signal and does not mean “no opportunity can exist.” |
| BULL ACTIVE | A fresh confirmed bullish Setup triggered and the state is still within its active life. | It does not guarantee price will rise or require you to enter immediately. |
| BEAR ACTIVE | A fresh confirmed bearish Setup triggered and the state is still within its active life. | It does not guarantee price will fall or replace your risk plan. |
WATCHING can still produce an Opportunity alert
Opportunity alerts are independent from the latched setup state. If price is close enough to the active level and the required Strength, role and MTF conditions align, an Opportunity alert can fire while the chart still says WATCHING. This is intentional: Opportunity means pay attention; Setup means stricter confirmation has passed.
ACTIVE is latched for up to eight confirmed chart bars
After a BULL or BEAR Setup triggers, the state can remain active for up to eight confirmed chart bars. It can return to WATCHING earlier if the active structural level changes or the setup is structurally invalidated.
A new confirmed setup can also replace the existing state. This behavior gives the trader a stable record of the setup event rather than letting the state flicker back to WATCHING simply because one live percentage softened.
Strength and state answer different questions
- Strength asks: what does the current directional pressure look like now?
- State asks: is there a recent strict setup event still considered active?
That is why you can see BULL ACTIVE while live Bull Strength falls, or BEAR ACTIVE while Bear Strength softens. The state is not meant to mirror the percentage tick-for-tick.
If you are already in a trade, your exit should come from your trading plan—structure, stop, target or another defined management rule. LevelBeacon returning to WATCHING only says the latched setup state has ended.
What does LEARNING mean?
The indicator has not yet accumulated enough completed historical examples for production alerts and setups. Strength readings can still be visible, but normal Opportunity and Setup eligibility has not been reached. This is a history requirement, not an AI service being trained on your account.
Use a standard time-based chart with sufficient available history. Repeated refreshing is not a way to bypass the requirement. If it persists, use the history checklist.
“Eight bars” refers to chart bars, not eight minutes on every chart. ACTIVE can end sooner when its level changes or its structural invalidation condition is met.
